King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC) has signed three Memoranda of Understanding with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), the Centre for National Health Insurance (CNHI), and the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC), to develop cooperation in the fields of research, technology localization, patient safety, and to enhance coordination and integration.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the second day of the Global Health Exhibition, which commenced yesterday in Riyadh. The first two memorandums were signed by H.E. Dr. Majid Alfayyadh, CEO of KFSHRC, H.E. Dr. Munir Eldesouki, President of KACST, and Mr. Yasser Al-Qhaidan, CEO of the CNHI.
The MoU with KACST seeks to strengthen collaboration between the two entities in biomedical research to address national issues, focusing on developing vaccines, biomanufacturing, preventive medicine, and gene therapies.
The aim is to promote innovation and advance technologies, digital health, and artificial intelligence in line with national priorities for research, development, and innovation, as well as the National Biotechnology Strategy.
The MoU with SPSC encompasses several areas of cooperation, including the exchange of scientific and practical expertise to promote a culture of patient empowerment, making them partners in decisions related to their health.
It also focuses on drug safety, the exchange of knowledge and training in the use of artificial intelligence to enhance patient safety, and the organization of specialized seminars and conferences. Meanwhile, the MoU with CNHI stipulates enhancing coordination and integration between the two parties, including the development of a future contractual relationship that meets the needs of both sides and contributes to improving healthcare performance and delivering high-quality services to patients. It is noteworthy that KFSHRC has been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 20th globally in the list of the world’s top 250 Academic Medical Centres for the second consecutive year and recognized as the most valuable healthcare brand in the Kingdom and the Middle East, according to the 2024 Brand Finance rankings. Additionally, in the same year, it was ranked among the world's best 250 hospitals and included in the World’s Best Smart Hospitals list for 2025 by Newsweek magazine.
