Clinical Genetics and Metabolic Disorders

Program Information

The fellowship program is designed to provide strong clinical training to enable fellows to obtain an in-depth and focused experience in the major areas of medical genetics. A 2-year or 3-year fellowship program is offered; the third year a subspecialty training in biochemical (metabolic), genetics, or clinical genetics (dysmorphology). The clinical genetic service provides care to more than 3000 active patients.

Additionally, trainees rotate in different specialized laboratories including the cytogenetic, biochemical, and molecular laboratories. Board-certified geneticists direct these laboratories, offering a wide array of genetic and metabolic testing. A genetic review course is offered annually. Several opportunities for involvement in clinical and laboratory research through numerous active research projects are available for fellows.
