The goal of the fellowship program is to produce competent consultants who are able to take appropriate decisions in all areas of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and to conduct clinical research. Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is also operating King Fahad National Centre for Children’s Cancer and Research, a 40-bed facility that will soon expand to a 70-bed capacity pediatric oncology centre.

A major strength of the program is the wide variety of clinical problems available for study. The department consists of outpatient hematology, stem cell transplantation and oncology clinics, walk-in treatment area units, hematology/oncology wards at both King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and King Fahad National Centre for Children’s Cancer, and stem cell transplantation unit. Routine, special and coagulation laboratories, a blood bank and research center laboratories are also available for the trainees. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology training program provides two years of clinical training with a third year for research.
