Organ transplants at KFSH&RC have increased by 179% during the last 10 years; with the Organ Transplant Centre ranked first in KSA in terms of adult and child liver transplants from live donors and with results comparable to international medical centers.

 

The Oncology Centre is considered a main referral center in KSA and the region for the treatment of high risk tumors for adults and children. 

 

The Medical Genetics department is classified as one of the first international centers for pre-fertilization genetic diagnosis and a leading center for pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, which is frequently followed by therapeutic intervention for most pre-natal cases of rare and complicated fetal disease. This is in addition to bone marrow and umbilical cord blood stem cell transplantation, and is classified as one of the largest programs worldwide.

 

The citation ratio of publications issued by the Research Centre at KFSH&RC continues to grow with 485 scientific papers published in renowned scientific journals. In addition, KFSH&RC participates in a number of international cancer
research projects.

 

The Joint Commission

KFSH&RC is a Joint Commission International accredited (JCIA) organization. JCIA is an independent, non-profit organization established more than 50 years ago. The Joint Commission International sets the standards by which healthcare quality is measured in the United States and around the world. To maintain this world class accreditation, organizations must have extensive on-site reviews by a team of Joint Commission Healthcare professionals at least once every three years.

We utilize one of the most advanced Learning Management Systems (LMS) in order to track our employees learning and training activities. The LMS is branded as iLearn at KFSH&RC. The iLearn program tracks all educational and training activities that are instructor-led or online courses.

In-house Staff Development Training Programs

Our in-house Staff Development Program provides both basic and advanced skills including the following:

  • Management and Leadership Development Programs for managers and senior level
    employees, covering Management skills such as strategic planning and effective project
    management.
  • Communication skills, stress management, critical thinking, business writing and
    work ethics.
  • Specialized Training Programs to meet specific need for particular departments (such as
    Human Resource, Food Service, Supply Chain Management, and Environmental Services)

Non-Physician Internship Programs

The practical internship programs are designed for non-Physicians students/interns who are enrolled in Academic Institutions.

Specialized Practical Training for Employees from External Organizations

KFSH&RC offers practical (on-the-job) training programs for Non-Physician-employees from other organizations.

Saudi Career Development Program (SCDP)

This program is offered for newly hired Saudi staff at KFSH&RC. The one-year program is focused on allowing the participants to be highly proficient in practical skills in their respective professions.

Pharmacy Residency Program

On the job training program that prepares pharmacists for the Saudi Board or clinical practices.

The Health Science Library is dedicated to providing comprehensive information services that advance research, teaching and patient care to KFSH&RC healthcare professionals and students. It also allows its users to locate, select and use knowledge resources anywhere in the world, whether in print or online. It subscribes to 30 database sources of 14,500 e-books and 10,700 e-journals, and printed books and back issues of printed journals.

Undergraduate Medical Education at KFSH&RC is the latest addition to Academic and Training Affairs’ repertoire of academic and educational programs for future medical care providers.

The UGME currently offers the following clinical training for medical students and medical interns:

  • Full time medical education affiliated with Alfaisal University
  • Pre-intern clinical elective / short time training
  • Summer elective training
  • Clinical research training
  • Medical internship training

The Academic & Training Affairs is committed to providing medical education as part of the most important tasks at KFSH&RC, in addition to introducing health care to patients and conducting research.
