Greetings.

The Education and Training Department, in cooperation with the Oncology Surgery Department, is pleased to announce the 1st KFSHRC Animal-Model Fundamentals of Robotic Surgery (Da Vinci Wet-Lab).

The 1st KFSHRC Animal-Model Fundamentals of Robotic Surgery (Da Vinci Wet-Lab) at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is an intensive one-day course designed for Senior Residents. It combines a short morning lecture on robotic surgery principles with an extended practical laboratory session using animal models. The course provides participants with direct console experience and guided operative training under expert supervision.


Objectives

  • Overview of robotic surgery principles and system setup
  • Ergonomics, port placement, and docking demonstration
  • Console familiarization: clutching, energy use, and camera control
  • Guided robotic procedures on animal models
  • Practical modules covering dissection, tissue handling, and intracorporeal suturing
  • Troubleshooting and instrument coordination exercises
  • Feedback, debriefing, and certification
