King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) concluded its participation in the BIO International Convention 2025, held in Boston, USA, as part of the Saudi Pavilion representing the national biotechnology ecosystem. KFSHRC highlighted its pioneering experience in utilizing genomic technologies and genetic databases to advance healthcare innovation, while exploring opportunities for international collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of biotechnology.

As part of the event, H.E. Dr. Majid bin Ibrahim Alfayyadh, Chief Executive Officer of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, participated in a high-level panel session titled "Partnering for Progress: Exploring Biotech Innovations and Opportunities in Saudi Arabia", alongside prominent Saudi healthcare leaders. In his remarks, Dr. Alfayyadh emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s health transformation is driving innovation through strategic investments in infrastructure, workforce development, and regulatory frameworks—strengthening the Kingdom’s regional and global position in biotechnology and precision medicine.

H.E. further noted that KFSHRC is integrating its research centre into the clinical care value chain by leveraging rich patient data, electronic medical records, and the linkage of genomic and phenotypic information. This approach accelerates the development of personalized treatments and innovative diagnostic models. He added that KFSHRC contributes approximately 10% of global entries to the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) database, reflecting its global leadership in rare genetic disease research and genomic science.

KFSHRC’s participation in BIO 2025—the world’s largest biotechnology convention—builds on its leading role in medical innovation and its commitment to strengthening global partnerships in research and biotechnology. This aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the objectives of the National Biotechnology Strategy.

It is noteworthy that King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre has been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 15th globally in the list of the world’s top 250 Academic Medical Centers for 2025. It was also recognized as the most valuable healthcare brand in the Kingdom and the Middle East by Brand Finance in 2024 and was listed among the World’s Best Smart Hospitals by Newsweek for 2025.
