Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, in collaboration with King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC), is launching a PhD program in "Applied Biology and Biotechnology". This initiative aims to enhance scientific research, localize knowledge within the Kingdom, meet the demand for qualified Saudi professionals in the local biotechnology sector, and contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The collaboration between the university and the hospital will enable participants in the academic program to combine theoretical and applied sciences. They will benefit from research laboratories and information resources, interact with biotechnology professionals at KFSHRC, and enhance the production of research that can be transformed into marketable products.

The program will bolster the Kingdom's position as a leader in the biotechnology sector, achieve a high level of self-sufficiency, create a positive social and economic impact, and support the knowledge economy by converting research into marketable products.

This innovative academic program aligns with the aspirations of the national biotechnology strategy, launched earlier this year by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This strategy serves as a comprehensive roadmap to make the Kingdom a global hub for biotechnology by 2040, provide specialized professional cadres, and develop capabilities to meet the sector's local needs.

It is noteworthy that the PhD program in "Applied Biology and Biotechnology" is the result of a recently signed agreement between King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. This agreement aims to cooperate in the creation and development of joint graduate programs, conduct scientific studies and research, and train graduate students.
