Summary

Operates Angiography/Fluoroscopy (Angio/Fluoro) equipment and assists assigned radiologist in the area.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Reviews exam orders/requisitions and corresponding protocol,and seeks advice of seniors.

2. Reviews and evaluates instructions from physicians to complete Angio or Fluoro procedures. Prepares room and checks supplies.

3. Selects proper image receptor and image recorder and programs them. Forwards recorded images in proper format to the radiologist for interpretation and assists in image manipulation and archiving.

4. Assists radiologist in Angio and Fluoro procedures.

5. Performs operator maintenance on equipment. Informs supervisor of equipment failure or repair needs and documents the same. Performs quality control studies on equipment. Maintains and cleans the room and equipment.

6. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination, scrubs with radiologist in angiography procedure as needed.

7. Assesses inventory and periodically stocks angiography and fluoroscopy supplies and restores all equipment and supplies for subsequent use.

8. Assists in training and supervison of students, interns, and trainees and evaluates their performance.

9. Assists radiologist in endovascular laser therapy procedure (EVLT).

10. Comply with the section policies, procedures and protocols.  Follow the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, SFDA and other accreditation agencies standards.

11. Comply with the Radiation Safety Rules and Regulations of the Hospital in accordance with KACST and K.A. CARE and other National or International Regulatory bodies.

12. Apply ALARA principle Role within the section practice for all procedures.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Radiological Science/ Technology required for Saudi Nationals or Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program (minimum 2 years ) for non-Saudi’s is required.

Experience Required

Grade 8:

Two (2) years with Bachelor’s or four (4) years of related experience for two (2) years program for non-Saudi’s is required.

Grade 9:·     Four (4) years as an Angiography/Fluoroscopy Technologist at KFSH&RC, or (Grade 08) related experience is required. ·  Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years. ·  Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME] is required. 

Other Requirements(Certificates)

·Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required. ·Registration in the American Registry of Radiographic Technologists of the Canadian Association of Medical RadiationTechnologists or equivalent is required for non-Saudis.
