Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Programs

The Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) is a training service provided for students from medical colleges all over the Kingdom, which is organized and planned to facilitate medical internship rotations or summer training based on the coordination between Academic & Training Affairs at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center – Madinah and the universities.

 

The UGME currently offers the following clinical training for medical students:

  • Medical Internship Training.
  • Summer Training.

 

What you need to know before you apply:

1- The UGME is committed to providing a superior clinical educational experience under the

Supervision of our dedicated physicians.

2- Training slots are limited based on UGME academic standards and criteria.

3- Submitting your application does not mean that you are accepted.

4- UGME system will notify you of your application status and the action taken via emails.

5- Paper applications will not be considered.

6- Additional requirements might be required such as interviews with the concerned department.

7- Visiting the hospital’s undergraduate medical internship coordinator office directly is not allowed. Concerning any further matters, please contact your university coordinators.

 

Medical Internship Training

After graduation from a recognized medical school, the student is required to successfully complete a 12-months rotation in clinical services. This year of rotation is called “Internship”, a pre-requisite to an honored medical degree.

 

Available specialties for medical internship training:

  1. Internal Medicine
  2. General Surgery
  3. Obstetrics and Gynecology
  4. General Pediatrics
  5. Emergency Medicine
  6. Family Medicine

 

Terms:

  • Medical intern should be Saudi national or borne from Saudi mother only
  • Medical intern’s GPA should be " Good or above".

 

Requirements:

If terms are met, seek the acceptance from your University and prepare the following to upload via online application:

  1. Request letter from the university including name, GPA, rotation and period
  2. Evaluation form
  3. Updated academic transcript.
  4. Health Checklist
  5. CV
  6. Copy of national ID card/ passport
  7. Valid BLS/ACLS

Submission Period:

Submission of the application should be at least six (6) weeks in advance prior to the starting date. Applications after the deadline will not be considered.

Applicants will receive the final decision on their application via electronic notification message after a short period from the date of submission.

  

Summer Training for Medical Students

Summer training offers a valuable opportunity for medical students to gain clinical educational experience and enhance their skills. To apply, ensure you meet the terms and follow the online application process.


Terms:

  • Summer training is allowed for 5th, 6th year medical students.
  • Medical student should be Saudi national or borne from Saudi mother.
  • Medical student’s GPA should be " Good or above".


Requirements:

If terms are met, prepare the following to upload via the online application:

  • Letter of request for summer training should include name, GPA, the specialty & period of training
  • Program Objectives/ evaluation
  • Updated academic transcript
  • Health Checklist
  • CV
  • Copy of national ID card/passport
  • Valid BLS/ACLS

Once a student has successfully completed the training, he/she will be eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of training.
