Otolaryngology Department –Speech Language Pathology Internship

Introduction:

The purpose of this internship-training program is prepare interns in a graduate level speech-language pathology program for professional practice in an inpatient or outpatient setting depending on the assignment. Throughout the internship, interns will provide diagnosis and treatment for a wide variety of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders on the acute and rehabilitation units, or in an outpatient setting.

 

Objectives:

  • Describe the theoretical knowledge related to Adult and pediatric Dysphagia.
  • Interpret adult and pediatric clinical swallow evaluation results.
  • Explain adult and pediatric dysphagia assessments & findings to other medical professionals, patients, and family.
  • Summarize adult and pediatric swallowing and feeding disorder treatment plan.
  • Interpret pediatric and adult instrumental dysphagia assessment procedures.
  • Discuss the theoretical knowledge related to adult & pediatric communication disorders.
  • Explain adult and pediatric communication assessment strategies and tests.
  • Explain adult and pediatric communication disorders assessments & findings to other medical professionals, patients, and family.
  • Summarize adult and pediatric communication disorder treatment plan.

 

Duration:

Six (6) months

 

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Internship request letter from Intern’s sponsor
  • Saudi national or borne from Saudi mother only
  • GPA 4 out of 5 or 3 out 4 or above.
  • Pass the interview.
  • English Proficiency Exam (STEP) score of 85+/100.
